School District 16, New Brunswick, dt16community.nbed.nb.ca
- needed a video-publishing environment safe for K-12 students
- wound up creating a Drupal solution for all schools in the district - each teacher has a page
- allows parents to have a window into kids' classrooms every day
- teachers say students are proactive about getting assignments and working on them
- broadcast journalism class: students contribute content directly to "District 16 Report" online newspaper
- planning to scale up the model to other districts in the province
uOttawa Student Portal
- requirement of dynamic language switching (French/English)
- all student data stored in DB2 database on mainframe
- purchased Luminis Portal, but missing promised requirements, poor usability and performance, poor i18n.
- Drupal supplemented missing functionality, gradually took on more and more functionality, with Luminis only as the portal
- using Messaging, Notifications, i18n, OG, jQuery UI, Panels, Services, Rules
